How to Contribute
Reach Out and Read Texas has an ongoing need for funding to train healthcare providers, purchase new children’s books, and continue to expand the “prescription for reading” to every Texas community. A contribution in any form is appreciated and will go towards ensuring that children enter school with the tools necessary to learn to read and be successful:

Volunteer readers are a crucial part of the Reach Out and Read model and are often a family’s first introduction to the program. By reading aloud in the waiting room, volunteers entertain young patients, while providing parents with a model for effective and enjoyable ways to share books with their young children. Reach Out and Read Texas primary care physicians practice medicine in a new way. National research shows that when pediatricians promote literacy according to the ROR model, there is a significant and positive change in parental behavior, beliefs, and attitudes towards reading aloud, as well as improvements in language scores of young children.
