Parents And Educators
Reach Out and Read focuses on the importance of the parent as their child's first teacher. Reading aloud to young children is not only one of the best activities to stimulate language and cognitive skills, it also builds motivation, curiosity, and memory, all of which contribute greatly to a child's academic and personal success. By replicating the positive behavior illustrated by pediatricians in the exam room and volunteer readers in the waiting room, our parents are able to build nurturing relationships around shared reading with their children.
